Dragon*Con post will be the next post! I'm working on infusing it with pictures and also with awesome.

I just wanted to ask one question. Am I lame for wanting to dread my hair? Actually, I'm thinking I might get some short fake DE dreads and braid them into my hair so that I don't actually have to deal with dreaded hair. But, yeah, I think I'd look pretty good with dreads, but I'm not always the best judge on what looks good (for example, see my stripes outfit a few posts back). I am probably still going to get them if everyone thinks they'll look horrible, I'll just keep them a shameful secret and wear them when nobody is looking.

I used to want to dread my hair, and then my germophobia kicked in.

Not everyone can wear them, but I think you may be one who can, so give the fakes a try and if they look good, do it for real.

Points up. What he says. You wear wigs, why not fake dreads. Also I personally think you will appreciate teh flexibility of fakes.

Personally, I think the hair has to be thick enough do have proper dreds. My hair is to fine and would never work. I would just get a rats nest.

There aren't many white people who can pull off dreads. It's kind of... I don't know. I'd start with the clip in type and see if you like them. I know that the aspect of not being able to wash it would freak me out.

You could look interesting in it. You have the personality to pull it off. I think that that's more important than anything.

I've wanted them for a while, though the idea of not being able to brush my hair has put me off of it a bit...You can, despite popular knowledge, wash dreads. It helps them, matter of fact, because it's controlled knotting, and dry hair knots better than oily hair.

I'd say look up stuff, get the fake ones, give it the halfassed shot with those, see how it feels. And you're comfortable enough with short hair that growing them out wouldn't really be a big deal.

Of course, your Malfoy costume wouldn't work so well after that...

Yeah, you're supposed to wash them, I've heard from people who have them. They take forever to dry, though.

Don't do it as then you would have to shave your head, not pretty when you grow sick of it.

Loves you, Sonia :)

i remember you expressed interest in doing this a few years ago and yet you never did, so i say, GO for it! i mean, you'll never know if you like it or not unless you give it a try. i think you could pull it off though. but if you don't wanna go all out then start with the fake ones (aren't those called falls or something?) and then get some real ones once your hairs long enough.

I think you'd look good with dreadlocks.

That said, you might want to consider getting braids instead. On bleached hair they'd probably last 1 1/2 - 2 months and give you an idea of what dreads would look like before you went in for the commitment (true dreadlocks must be cut off, not taken out).

Be prepared for massive itchiness, btw, as the extensions cause hella strain on your scalp as your hair gets pulled. When I had my hair braided I found this spray stuff for your scalp but it didn't really help. Oh, and when you wash your hair it'll feel like you have a mop on your head for hours until it dries!

Oh yeah, I'm prepared for the itchiness. The way my hair dries, I'm used to the directional pull. I used to have extremely long hair and am used to the mop-like post-shower thing. But thanks for the warning, I will try to be prepared!

I saw a number of dreads at DragonCon that really looked good, and I could not tell if they were real or fake. If you want to try fake first that's fine, but either fake or real I say go for it.

Yeah, I can never tell if they're real or fake unless I see them really close up.

dreads suit your personality, somehow.

Don't know your hair well enough to say how well it'd work in practice, though. And I agree with the idea of either wearing a dread-wig or having your hair braided beforehand, just to see that you like it (and to save you the trouble of shaving your hair off if you find you don't care for it.)

Aiyeee, have a blast at Dragon*Con!!! Looking forward to the stories and pictures :)

As for the dreads, I think you'd look adorable with them! Again, I'd say try braids first to get the general feel for the idea, and if you like it, go for it.

Hope you like how it turns out!

I think white folks just don't look that good in dreads, but I'm an old fart, so carry on.

You only live once, fake or real, fuck it, have fun.

I don't regret having had a mohawk or shaving my head or any of the other stupid things I've done with my head and hair.

Totally go for braiding in the double ended dreads. But i'll second the fact that any braided in extensions are gonna put hella strain on your scalp and neck for the first week. Braid in dreads are nice because you can change the colors easily and just unbraid them for a bit if your scalp wants/needs a rest. Or you could even try dreadfalls for a bit beforehand

I think they would look awesome personally. It will take some getting use to for sure, but if you want to do it, then go for it! And if you don't like em just take em out (that is if you Heh the fake ones). If you need someone to put them in for ya, I'm yer girl! Well, the fakies

EEEEEEEEEEP! That's for the ads. The children remind of the freaky airbrushed paintings they use to have in Burlington.

As for dreads, do it, then get an SUV and beg for money at your Heroes/ Villians party. You will be my favorite villian Trustifarian! I was told all through high school to dread my hair, but didn't, because I didn't want to. They work really well for curly hair, as long as you care for them or you just get one huge dread like my ex. Try the fakes first. I won't judge you.
( go crazy? )
