Dragon*Con post will be the next post! I'm working on infusing it with pictures and also with awesome.
I just wanted to ask one question. Am I lame for wanting to dread my hair? Actually, I'm thinking I might get some short fake DE dreads and braid them into my hair so that I don't actually have to deal with dreaded hair. But, yeah, I think I'd look pretty good with dreads, but I'm not always the best judge on what looks good (for example, see my stripes outfit a few posts back). I am probably still going to get them if everyone thinks they'll look horrible, I'll just keep them a shameful secret and wear them when nobody is looking.

Personally, I think the hair has to be thick enough do have proper dreds. My hair is to fine and would never work. I would just get a rats nest.
You could look interesting in it. You have the personality to pull it off. I think that that's more important than anything.
I'd say look up stuff, get the fake ones, give it the halfassed shot with those, see how it feels. And you're comfortable enough with short hair that growing them out wouldn't really be a big deal.
Of course, your Malfoy costume wouldn't work so well after that...
Loves you, Sonia :)
That said, you might want to consider getting braids instead. On bleached hair they'd probably last 1 1/2 - 2 months and give you an idea of what dreads would look like before you went in for the commitment (true dreadlocks must be cut off, not taken out).
Be prepared for massive itchiness, btw, as the extensions cause hella strain on your scalp as your hair gets pulled. When I had my hair braided I found this spray stuff for your scalp but it didn't really help. Oh, and when you wash your hair it'll feel like you have a mop on your head for hours until it dries!
Seconded!

Don't know your hair well enough to say how well it'd work in practice, though. And I agree with the idea of either wearing a dread-wig or having your hair braided beforehand, just to see that you like it (and to save you the trouble of shaving your hair off if you find you don't care for it.)
As for the dreads, I think you'd look adorable with them! Again, I'd say try braids first to get the general feel for the idea, and if you like it, go for it.
Hope you like how it turns out!
I don't regret having had a mohawk or shaving my head or any of the other stupid things I've done with my head and hair.
As for dreads, do it, then get an SUV and beg for money at your Heroes/ Villians party. You will be my favorite villian Trustifarian! I was told all through high school to dread my hair, but didn't, because I didn't want to. They work really well for curly hair, as long as you care for them or you just get one huge dread like my ex. Try the fakes first. I won't judge you.
